DAY 2 | Zagreb + Varazdin
A walking tour in Zagreb includes the National Theater and city market. Ride a turn-of-the-century funicular to explore Upper Town. Then travel to Varazdin; this fine Baroque city on the River Drava is one of the highlights of northern Croatia. Discover this breathtaking
wonder of 16 terraced lakes that range in hue from azure and emerald to steely gray. Nestled on forested slopes, they’re connected by rushing cascades. After a cruise on the largest of the lakes, continue to the Roman-Gothic town of Trogir for a guided stroll through town, including St. Lawrence’s Cathedral that was built from the 13th to 15th centuries. The Sarajevo Freedom Tunnel Museum offers a sobering yet inspiring look into the Siege of Sarajevo and the vital role that the tunnel played in supplying food and arms during the 3-year siege.
