DAY 7 | Overland to Lijiang
Drive to ancient Lijiang and check in to
the 5-star Banyan Tree. Learn more about Dongba and Naxi culture at the local museum and visit Mu’s Mansion and the beautiful Black Dragon Pool. Enjoy a guided walk in Old Town and an evening of Naxi cuisine and music. meals b+l+d
DAY 8 | Baisha + Blue Moon Valley
Set out for Baisha village, an early settlement
of the Naxi people nestled at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Founded in the Ming Dynasty, its historical treasures include the fine frescoes of Dabaoji Palace. Delight in the sublime beauty of Blue Moon Valley and return to Lijiang. meals b+l
DAY 9 | Ancient tribal traditions
Meet a hawk breeder who trains these regal
birds to hunt in the traditional way of the Naxi. A scholar of Dongba culture will teach
you about their language; composed of 1,400 picture-like characters, it’s the only living hieroglyph in the world. meals b+l+d
DAY 10 | Travel to Zhongdian
Behold Tiger Leaping Gorge and continue through the mountains to Zhongdian to check in to the authentic luxury of Banyan Tree Ringha. Enjoy a visit to the studio of a Thangka painter. Sit down to a Tibetan-style dinner in Old Town. meals b+l+d

by James Hilton in The Lost Horizon, Zhongdian is rich in culture and beauty. Experience both facets as you spend time with a Buddhist lama at the picturesque Songtsam Monastery. After lunch, a guided mountain walk brings you to the tranquil, rarely-visited Dabao Monastery. Spend time with a village family for an authentic experience of life in this remote region.
