DAY 2 | Board the M/Y Tucano for your cruise
up the Rio Negro. Our 9-cabin expedition ship immerses you in the sights and sounds of the jungle. The afternoon finds you exploring the vast Anavilhanas Archipelago. Join our naturalists to explore the dense forests, alive with monkeys and exotic birds. After dinner, set out in launches to search for nocturnal creatures. meals b+d
DAY 3 | This morning, explore the flora and fauna of the Igapó, a unique flooded eco-system of dense
forests rising from the dark swirling waters of the Rio Negro. Later, a hike through a high Amazon forest reveals the flora and fauna of a very different, much drier environment. b+l+d
DAY 4 | Today we’ll explore more of the Rio Negro, venturing into remote rainforest areas rarely seen by others. This evenng we’ll sail up a small east bank tributary for a night safari deep in the jungle. With sharp eyes, we might espy nocturnal species like the crocodilian caiman. Back onboard, you can sip a traditional caipirinha and maybe learn to samba. b+l+d
DAY 5 | Arise early to go in search of wildlife as they begin their day; it’s a lively time in the jungle! After breakfast, enjoy another expedition into the forest. This afternoon, cruise along the Encontro das Aguas, where the brown waters of the Amazon and the darker waters of the Rio Negro flow side-by- side for miles without mixing. Pink and gray river dolphins can often be seen cavorting along this stark line of contrasting currents. b+l+d
DAY 6 | After breakfast, disembark in Manaus for a tour of this vibrant port – including the ornate Amazon Theater, built more than a century ago by wealthy rubber barons. Fly to Iguassu and transfer to the 5-star Belmond Das Cataratas, the only hotel inside Brazil’s Iguassu National Park . b
