DAY 4 | Along the Dardanelles Enjoy the scenic drive to the historic Gallipoli Peninsula. We’ll check in to the luxurious Caeli Hotel in the midst

DAY 5 | Ancient Troy + Alexandria Troas Cross the Dardanelles this morning to visit the site of ancient Troy where excavations have revealed successive settlements going back 4,000 years. Ancient defensive walls and a Roman temple are among the sites to be seen. After lunch, you’ll tour the ruins of Alexandria Troas, an ancient port that dates to the 4th century BCE. Return to the Caeli Hotel for dinner and overnight. meals b+l+d
DAY 6 | Onward to Cappadocia
Return to Istanbul for your flight to Kayseri where you’ll be escorted to the Argos Inn, set on the grounds of a historic cave monastery in the ancient village of Uchisar. meals b+l+d
DAY 7 | Cappadocia from above Floating silently above in a hot air balloon
is the best way to experience these deep valleys, honeycombed hills, and towering rock formations. After breakfast, explore the “fairy chimneys” of the Devrent and Pasabag Valleys. Then tour the cave churches at the Goreme Open-Air Museum with their 1,000-year-old frescoes. Have lunch at Ziggy Cafe, set in a restored stone house with views over the town of Urgup, and see skilled artisans and weavers at work in the village of Avanos. Enjoy a mesmerizing performance by the Whirling Dervishes and dine with a local family in their home. meals b +l+d
DAY 8 | Cappadocia from below Experience life in the timeless village of Ayvali, off-the-beaten path and rarely visited. After an organic farm-to-table
lunch at Aravan Evi, you’ll descend deep underground to explore the tunnels, kitchens, living quarters and even stables of Kaymakli Underground City, built by early Christians to hide from Roman soldiers and later Ottoman conquests. meals b+l+d
DAY 9 | Return to Istanbul
Fly back to Istanbul for another night at the Ciragan Palace Kempinski Hotel. This evening’s dinner at a rooftop restaurant offers views over this exotic city. meals b+d
