DAY 5 | Onward to Solvorn Reflecting the Vikings’ skill for building
wooden ships, Norway’s stave churches
are elaborately carved structures of timber posts and plank walls. This morning at
the 12th-century Borgund Church, you’ll discover one of Norway’s finest – with lavishly decorated portals and roof carvings. Then ride the ferry to the northern shores
of Sognefjord and step off in Solvorn for a 2-night stay at the Walaker Hotel, set on the very edge of the fjord. meals b+d
DAY 6 | The Nigardsbreen Glacier With expert instruction from our glacier
guide, you’ll set out across the hard blue
ice of the Nigardsbreen Glacier to explore ice tunnels, deep crevasses and towering pinnacles of ice – all the while learning about the forces of nature behind this natural wonder. Visit the Breheimsenteret Glacier Center and return to Solvorn. meals b+d
DAY 7 | Sognefjord to Lofthus Journey south to Kaupanger and board
the ferry to Gudvangen, a cruise through stunning fjords where generations-old homesteads cling to steep mountainsides that soar to 6,000 feet. Continue overland, crossing the amazing 4,300-foot span of the Hardanger Bridge to Lofthus, where you’ll check in to the historic Hotel Ullensvang – set on the edge of Sørfjorden. meals b+d
DAY 8 | Hardangerfjord to Bergen Visit the Hardanger Folk Museum to see
delicate local embroidery, regional costumes and a rare collection of old Hardanger fiddles. Then journey by land and fjord to
the Steinstø Fruit Farm for a farm-to-table lunch and their famed apple pie – regarded as the best in Scandinavia. Behold the Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall, one of the most picturesque in Norway, and continue to Bergen where you check in to the wonderful Hotel Bergen Bors. meals b+l
DAY 9 | Tour + taste of Bergen This morning’s walking tour has been
designed to introduce you to Bergen’s rich history through its culinary scene. Many
of the buildings along the old Hanseatic Wharf  are now home to restaurants and specialty shops. With our engaging guide, you’ll explore Norwegian history, life and culture as you sample local specialties
like salmon, reindeer, artisanal cheeses and sweets. Then ride the funicular to the summit of Mt. Fløyen for sweeping views of Bergen and the surrounding sea and mountains. meals b+d
