OUR JOURNEY
DAY 1 | Welcome to Cairo Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted
by our Cairo-based team and escorted to the 5-star Kempinski Nile Hotel, a stylish city-center hotel that’s perfect for our small groups. Settle in to your Nile-view room and enjoy the rest of this day at leisure.
DAY 2 | Extraordinary sites
of antiquity
The ancient world comes to life as you explore today with our expert Egyptologist. Physicists
at the University of Amsterdam recently put forth a theory on how the Great Pyramids were built. Behold these amazing structures and evaluate their ideas for yourself! Then stand under the watchful gaze of the Sphinx and see the 4,600-year-old Solar
Boat of King Cheops. A camel ride across the desert sands may strike you as a bit touristy, but
we guarantee you’ll never forget the experience! Then travel to Memphis, site of Egypt’s ancient capital, to see the colossus of Ramses II and the beautiful Alabaster Sphinx, discovered just a century ago. Continue on to Sakkara and visit the country’s oldest standing stone structure, the impressive Step Pyramid of King Zoser. Lunch today will be at the landmark Mena House. meals b+l
All internal flights are included.
DAY 3 | Old Cairo and the Egyptian Museum
Today’s sightseeing begins in historic Tahrir Square. At the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, your guided visit reveals ancient artifacts that will deepen your appreciation of the sites you’ll explore along the Nile. and its bazaar before returning to the Kempinski on the banks of the Nile. meals b+l
DAY 4 | Welcome Aboard
the Oberoi Philae
Fly to Luxor to board the stylish Oberoi Philae. Enjoy lunch in the elegant dining room, club-like Lounge or even al fresco. Then step ashore to explore the great Karnak Temple . With our skilled Egyptologist on hand, you’ll stand before its massive pillars and admire the Hypostyle Hall, the largest hall of any temple in the world. Nearby, the Luxor Temple was built in the 14th century BC and is connected to the Karnak complex by the awe-inspiring nearly 2-mile long Avenue of Sphinxes. meals b+l+d
DAY 5 | The fabled Valley of the Kings and Queens
Focusing on the West Bank, where 64 ancient Egyptian
rulers lie buried, today’s touring includes the spectacular Funerary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Standing like guards along the
road to the Valley of Kings, you’ll also marvel at the Colossi of Memnon, impressive statues of Amenhotep that tower 75 feet above the desert sands. meals b+l+d
DAY 6 | Ashore in Edfu and on to Kom Ombo
Step ashore in Edfu to visit
the Temple of Haroeris; rich in design, intricate in detail and ingenious in its construction, the extraordinary quality of every element attests to the great importance of Haroeris, one
of the oldest forms of Horus
the falcon-headed Sun God. After lunch and afternoon tea onboard, step ashore to explore the unusual Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to both Horus and Sobek, the Crocodile God. meals b+l+d
DAY 7 | A dam, a temple and an unfinished obelisk Exploration thus far has focused on the ancient world. But this morning, you’ll visit one of the engineering marvels of the modern era. Built in 1972, the High Dam at Aswan spans more than 2 miles and towers 300 feet! You’ll also visit the Temple of Philae and travel to the nearby granite quarry where
the Unfinished Obelisk is still attached to bedrock. meals b+l+d

Abu Simbel
